About Javier Omar Meléndez-Vega, LCSW

Hello, I'm Javier Meléndez, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. With dual Master's degrees in Social Work and Youth and Young Adult Ministry, I bring over a decade of experience in providing holistic mental health care.

My Philosophy: Eutierria Therapy

Eutierria is an emotion term that describes the experience of having good and positive feeling of oneness with the earth and its life forces. My practice, Eutierria Therapy, is rooted in this philosophy. It's about being whole, reconnecting to our minds and bodies, and empowering us to be more present. It aims to restore broken relationships, deepen our bonds with others, and reunite us with nature's natural rhythms. Beyond that, it seeks to rediscover a connection to the divine, offering a sense of greater meaning and purpose.

My Approach: Salutogenic Mental Health

I practice a salutogenic approach to mental health, focusing on factors responsible for well-being rather than the causes of "dis-ease." During our sessions, we will explore what aspects of your life are naturally improving your physical, mental, ecological, social, and spiritual well-being. We'll incorporate strategies like mindfulness, embodiment, time in nature, interpersonal effectiveness, and spiritual technologies to promote and enhance your holistic well-being.

Who I Serve

As a Puerto Rican/Taino member of the LGBTQ community, I specialize in providing a safe and affirming space for individuals to explore their cultural, ethnic, sexual, and gender identities. I focus on treating complex trauma, anxiety, and issues related to spirituality and sexuality.

Beyond Therapy

I'm deeply committed to fostering a harmonious relationship between humanity and the Earth. This commitment extends beyond the therapy room as I actively collaborate with others who acknowledge the connection between environmental restoration and mental health. In my free time, you'll find me outdoors—hiking, camping, or simply soaking in the natural world.
